Russell G. Krause, age 93, of Munster, IN, formerly of Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017. He is survived by his children, Robert (Susan) Krause, Philip Krause, Betty Krause (late James) Zambelli and Naomi Krause (Robert) Korem; and grandchildren, Derek Krause, Christopher Zambelli, Kaitlin Korem, Lauren Krause, Kara Korem and Allan Korem. Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Therese (nee Rudzinski) Krause. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church 501 163rd St. Calumet City, IL with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial offered by Reverend Patrick Lyons. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Born and raised in the Chicago Bridgeport neighborhood, Russell was a Purple Heart Recipient U.S. Army 95th Infantry Division. He married his high school sweetheart Therese Rudzinski. With the GI Bill, Russell attended classes in accounting, which became his career for 45 years. He was an active community volunteer, serving Our Lady of Knock parish, for many years, and as an AARP Tax Preparer in Lansing, IL. Russell loved fishing! Especially summer get-aways to northern Wisconsin. His six grandchildren kept him a busy Grandpa, and for the past 6 years, he was an active resident at Hartsfield Village in Munster, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Russell’s name to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
