Ruth Ann Meagher 92, of Munster IN passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2023. Ruth was born on November 16, 1930, in Terre Haute IN. Ruth is survived by her daughters Patricia, Janet, Diane (late Bruce), Marjorie, and Amy (Gary); son-in-law Scott; grandchildren Amanda (Robert), Evan (Abigail), Monica (Laura) and Meredith; great grandchildren Felicity, Eloise, Scarlett, and Rory. Preceded in death by her husband Edward and daughter Kathleen.
In 1953 she married Edward Meagher and they moved to Munster, IN where they raised their six daughters. Ruth was a member of Beta Gamma Upsilon Sorority and a volunteer at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts gift shop. An active mom, Ruth was the girl scout cookie lady for many years and participated in many activities at Saint Thomas More School where all six of her daughters attended. Ruth and Ed were active with the NIPSCO community, Elks, and Kiwanis clubs where they formed many lifelong friendships. Later in life, Ruth cherished her special group of “church ladies” from Saint Thomas More parish, where she was a member for 70 years. Ruth became “Granny” to her four grandchildren and many of their friends. Six years ago, becoming a great grandmother brought her much joy.
Visitation will be on Sunday July 9, 2023, from 2pm to 6pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 10, 2023, at 10am at Saint Maria Goretti Church located at 500 Northgate Dr, Dyer, IN. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood IL. Memorial contributions to Share Foundation in her memory would be appreciated.
