Ruth Beck, 90, of Munster, formerly of Chicago and New Buffalo, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, cherished by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Joseph Brandstetter, of Chicago; and sister, Betty Hollander (nee Brandstetter), of Chicago. Adored and adoring wife of 60 years of Dr. Charles A. Beck, Sr., who also preceded her in death. Loving mother of Dr. Charles A. (Christine) Beck, Jr. of Dyer, and Helen (Dr. Lorin) Brown of Munster; Grandmother Meema to Dr. Joseph (Laura) and Brian, Grandmother Ga to David (Colleen) and Rebecca; Great-grandmother to Max, Jackson, and Avery. Very special Aunt to Clifford (Sharon) Hollander and Laura (Dick) Gill. Ruth was born in Chicago, and attended Hyde Park High School and the University of Chicago. Ruth’s unbridled joy for the people and things she loved was legendary and infectious. Ruth delighted in every detail of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and friends that became family over the decades. A proud Hyde Parker for most of her life, Ruth loved nothing more than a good bridge trick, an afternoon with the girls in her 65-year book club, or a fresh-baked anything out of her oven. A private graveside service will be held for the family on Friday. Please join the family for a memorial on Monday, May 25, at 10:00am, followed by visitation, at Temple Beth-El, 10001 Columbia Ave. Munster. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of the Calumet Area in memory of Ruth Beck.
