Sally Cecelia Hawkins

Sally Cecelia Hawkins, 86 of Munster, IN passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013 with her daughters by her side. She was born May 13, 1926 to the late John and Mary Orkis of Calumet City, IL. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Gordon) Horn of Cincinnati, OH and Janet (Dwight) Schwartz of Western Springs, IL; 4 grandchildren, that she adored, Joshua and Andrea Horn, Allison and Melissa Schwartz; sister, Julia Gorecki; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her brother, Henry Orkis; sisters, Joan Dobrowolski and Lottie Lochte; husband, Robert Hawkins. Visitation will be on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Sally was a lifelong resident of Munster, longtime member of St. Thomas More Church and a crossing guard for Eads School. She worked in the Personnel Department for 15 years at Lever Brothers Company in Whiting, IN; graduated from TF North High School where she wrote a column for the school newspaper was on the Diving Team and was a Majorette. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Carmelite Shrine Munster, IN would be appreciated. Sally had a heart of gold. She lived her life to spend time with her grandchildren. She will be lovingly missed by her family, many friends old and new and caregivers these last few years of her life. We Love You Mom!
