Sara Ann Graden, nee Batchelder, age 90, of Munster, passed away peacefullyat home on Sunday, December 10, 2017. She was born October 19, 1927 inGary, IN to Harold and Clara Batchelder. Sara was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Joseph T. “Ted” Graden on January 24, 1948 (very nearly 70 years ago)! She was the ultimate homemaker for many years as her children were growing up, but ventured out to work in bookkeeping for K Mart Corporation,retiring in 1991. In her leisure time, Sara enjoyed singing in the St. Thomas Morechoir, reading, playing bridge, and caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by her loving children, Martie (Leon),Jeff (Kathy), and Mark (Kathy), adored grandchildren, Joe (Kelly), Sara, Matthew, Alex, Heather, and Nicole (Philip), and dear great-grandchildren, Jade, Autumn, and Alexis. She will also be missed by her sister Shirley (Dave), sister-in law Pat (late Harold), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Arthur Rine, infant granddaughters, Megan and Mary, sisters, Dorothy (late Al), Alice (late Bob), and niece, Sharon. A Memorial Visitation will be held on January 4, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Drive, Munster, IN 46321 would be appreciated. Sara’s family will be forever grateful for the kindness, compassion and care afforded to her in her last days by the members of this organization. Sara will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends throughspecial moments that have become forever memories.
