Sherrie Jean (Stricklin) Quealy of Lansing, Illinois was surrounded by her family when she ascended to Heaven Sunday, December 25, 2016. She is survived by her husband Thomas Quealy, her son Kevin, daughter Erin, brother in law Mike Quealy, Mike's wife Barb and their children Sarah and Patrick, brother in law Dan Quealy, Dan's wife Karen and their daughter Mollie, sister in law Peg Bowbin, Peg's Husband Mike and their children Liz and Eddie, mother Jean Stricklin, brother David Stricklin, David‚Äôs wife Jennifer and their sons Donald and Harold. Sherrie was preceded in death by her father, Donald D. Stricklin, and our grief is relieved by the happiness of their reunion.Sherrie was born and raised in Carbondale where she was a memorable performer of music and on stage, graduating Carbondale Community High School in 1978. She then went on to receive a degree in Theater from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1983 and pursued a career in the performing arts prior to meeting her husband Tom and starting her own family. Following a family tradition of classroom teaching, she was most recently an educator at Serena Hills Elementary School in the Flossmoor School District where she was beloved by the students and her colleagues. A visitation will be held Friday, December 30, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, Indiana. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ridge United Methodist Church, 8607 Columbia Avenue, Munster, Indiana.The preferred form of memorial should be made to the Quealy Children College Education Fund, c/o the First Savings Bank of Hegewisch, 18207 Burnham Avenue, Lansing, Illinois 60438.\”
