Steve P. Coulis, 91, passed away on January 19, 2015. He is survived by his wife Dena of sixty-six years, three sons, Paul (wife Diana) of Bloomington, Indiana, John (wife Susan) of Bradenton, Florida, and Philip (wife Shari) of Munster, Indiana. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dena Lytle (husband Spencer) of Austin, Texas, Christian Coulis (wife Alison) of Sussex, Wisconsin, Steven Coulis (wife Christina) of New York, New York, Andrea Coulis of Chicago, Illinois, Stephen Coulis of Key West, Florida, and Peter Coulis of Bradenton, Florida. Steve is also survived by two great grandchildren, Anna Kay Coulis and Emily Dena Coulis of Sussex, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Angeline and brothers, Anthony and Tom.Steve served in the United States 15th Air Force, 449th Bomb Group in Grottiaglia, Italy during World War II, completing 50 missions in a B-24 Liberator Squadron. He was the recipient of 11 Bronze Battle Stars and a Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster.Steve was a life-long member and Past-President of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Hammond, a member of the American Legion Post 16, and a member of the Munster F.O.P. He was also a former member of the Munster Lions, Scoutmaster of Munster Boy Scout Pack 533 and Past-President of the Munster Booster Club. He was on the Hammond police force for a short time and employed in the wholesale floral industry for over 50 years. He was loved and adored by all and left countless memories for those who knew him.Visitation will be on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 PM with the Trisagion prayer service 7:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN, with Fr. David Bissias officiating. Entombment will follow at the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of the Calumet Area for their care and comfort.
