Teresa A. Duncan, age 65 of St. John, IN, formerly of Bialystok, Poland passed away on Saturday,
January 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Ronald
Duncan; daughters, Barbara (Blake) Bishop and Elizabeth (Reed) Wulbrecht; son, Grant (Kristin)
Duncan; grandson, Bennett Bishop; sister, Bernarda (Maciej) Bielena; brother, Romuald (Celina)
Todryk; and 8 nieces/nephews and 3 grandnieces/nephews. Teresa was preceded in death by
her parents, Stanislaw and Jozefa Todryk.
Teresa spent her formative years in Poland and began her career teaching Russian to high school
students in Bialystok. She immigrated to the United States in 1989 and obtained a Master’s
Degree in education from IU Northwest.  She then spent over 30 years in the Hammond public
school system as an educator, teaching English at Scott Middle School and English as a Second
Language at Hammond High. Teresa approached teaching with vigor and passion and positively
impacted the lives of countless students throughout her career. After retiring, Teresa spent her
time helping raise her grandson, Bennett, who brought much joy and laughter into her life.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 2, 2024 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave.
Munster IN from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 5:30 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday,February 3, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Day Chapel 11301 W. 93rd Ave. Saint John, IN.  Interment will be private.
