Thomas O’Brien, 66, of St. John, IN formerly of Hammond, IN passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Meg; children, Shannon Fluellen, Bryan (Deanna) Woerner, Deborah (Christopher) Matonovich, Alexis (Jason) Franyi and Thomas (Tracy) O’Brien; grandchildren, Taylor, Colin, Lily, Jacob, Ethan, Hannah, Louis, Tommy, Joey, Henry, Marissa, Madison, Aubrey, Aysia and Chase; sisters-in-law, Liz (Kent) Schwingendorf and Susie (Dave) McClellan; brother-in-law, Tim (Karen) Storey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lillian O’Brien; brother, Michael O’Brien; brother-in-law, Terry Storey.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.

We have had the priviledge of being neighbors with Tom and Meg for the last handful of years and not only do we love them both very much, but our children love them like grandparents. We are sad to have lost "Mr. Tom," and will miss seeing him in the yard picking up acorns with his walk-behind picker-upper, telling stories in the park and having big open arms for hugs when the girls see him. Our deepest sympathies to all of his family - he was a great man and will be remembered for his kind heart.
