Viola Ernestine Neiner, 93, formerly of Highland and Munster passed away peacefully April 22, 2015. She was born March 6, 1922, in Daytona, Florida, daughter of the late Ernest Carlisle and Iris (Blanchard) Schock. Viola graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1940, she married Ralph S. Neiner of Hammond and celebrated over fifty years of marriage. Viola was employed at Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Gibson General Office for over 30 years and after retirement she embarked on a second career as a real estate agent for Price Realty. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, especially Patricia Bannon and Rita Carmen, and was devoted and dedicated to her grandchildren. She is survived by her two children; Mark Alan Neiner (wife, Mary Anne Pullen Neiner) of Munster and Karen Leigh Neiner (husband, Richard E. Nosal) of Chicago; and four grandchildren, Colleen Neiner, Eric Neiner, Danielle Nosal and Claire Nosal; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband Ralph Neiner and brothers Roy and Carlisle Schock. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled late spring 2015. Memorials may be made to Planting Possibilities, an organization with the mission to provide job skills training for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities in Lake County, Indiana.
