Viola Ernestine Neiner, 93, formerly of Highland and Munster passed away peacefully April 22, 2015. She was born March 6, 1922, in Daytona, Florida, daughter of the late Ernest Carlisle and Iris (Blanchard) Schock. Viola graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1940, she married Ralph S. Neiner of Hammond and celebrated over fifty years of marriage. Viola was employed at Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Gibson General Office for over 30 years and after retirement she embarked on a second career as a real estate agent for Price Realty. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, especially Patricia Bannon and Rita Carmen, and was devoted and dedicated to her grandchildren. She is survived by her two children; Mark Alan Neiner (wife, Mary Anne Pullen Neiner) of Munster and Karen Leigh Neiner (husband, Richard E. Nosal) of Chicago; and four grandchildren, Colleen Neiner, Eric Neiner, Danielle Nosal and Claire Nosal; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband Ralph Neiner and brothers Roy and Carlisle Schock. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled late spring 2015. Memorials may be made to Planting Possibilities, an organization with the mission to provide job skills training for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities in Lake County, Indiana. To the family of Viola: you have my deepest sympathy. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I worked with her through out the entire 70's at IHB R.R. I was a young gal at the time and she took a liking to me. I liked her immediately. She was kind and I admired her also for her beauty. Her and I were tea drinkers and every morning one of us would make a kettle of tea. Ralph was also a very nice man . I enjoyed working with him as well. RIP Viola and Ralph. Viola will always be appreciated by me for the love and time she gave to my children, her grand daughters Danielle and Claire. She visited and cared for them from their birth, until age limited her ability to travel. Danielle and Claire will always cherish their lunches with Grandma at the Walnut Room, dining under the Christmas tree or a celebration with "Peter Rabbit". She would never say no to our request of help when they were ill or circumstances left us needing her time. She would clear her schedule to be there for us. She shared the love that only a grandmother can give and it was reciprocated by Danielle and Claire. Thank you for being a wonderful grandmother and mother in law.
